Hello ! I lucked out with a full day at the studio today and I started with some random paper cutting.
I know, I know. There's that "flying" reference again. Can't seem to shake that.
The next piece that had my attention was a holiday project I've worked on every year for the past 5 years. I donate a product design to a cancer foundation and they have the product manufactured. It is then sold through their website, at foundation functions and fundraisers, and by many individual "elves" (including me) that donate their time to help with marketing and sales. My aunt is a breast cancer survivor and she and my uncle are the inspirations behind the designs, the creators of the original product idea, and volunteer elves. I plan to elaborate on all this more and offer information about purchases. Keep your eyes peeled :)
Next on the list was some new drawings that were transferred onto linoleum blocks and are just waiting to be carved. My new rhythm seems to be to transfer drawings onto at least 3 blocks at a time, then carve one each day. It takes a serious toll on my hands if I try to do more than one detailed design a day. This is all wrapped up with a printing marathon day somewhere down the road. On this same note, I've been wanting some sort of printing apron to protect my clothes and have been drawing a few ideas in my sketchbook. It's got to have a few pockets for carving tools and doo-dads while I work, and it has to be a thick enough fabric so that ink will not bleed through when I get messy (and I do;) And it's GOT to be cool ! By the way, I am an amateur seamstress at best, and I don't own a sewing machine, so this should be an interesting apron. Wish me luck!
All in all it was a very productive day and left me feeling energized.
Fingers crossed for the same outcome tomorrow ;) Have a great Wednesday....
