All I'll say is check out "Who does she think she is".
Stumbled upon this website and it's making me shake with anticipation. (OK, and I had a cup of coffee today too, but it's mostly the website ;)

THIS was the Halloween costume that required a hack saw:
My daughter wants to be a re-cycling bin for Halloween and I finished just in the knick of time!
She's still at school so I thought I would try it on to make sure her legs will fit through the hole in the bottom...
How did I get to the point in my life where I am willing to stand in the bathroom taking a picture of myself wearing a re-cycling bin ??
All in good fun I guess :):) Have a great night!

Happy Halloween, officially! Sorry for the lack of pictures around here lately. I have been meaning to show you all kinds of things that I've been seeing but my camera has not been traveling around with me lately. Not sure what that's about but it is starting to feel weird not having my camera around so I know I will be shooting again soon.
On another note, I have definately not forgotten about the Fall postcard giveaway but seeing as it is the last day of October (and I mentioned an October date for the new postcards) I will bump the giveaway up and plan to run the giveaway within the next two weeks. I announcedf it here and on Whip-up the last time and plan to do the same when they are ready this time.
The studio move-out is officially done, my jewelry class starts next week, I have had sewing work pick-up again and I've been making Halloween costumes......so the creativity is definately flowing , I just haven't had much time to post about it!
In the tradition of one of my favorite blogs, Soulemama, I will leave you with a short list of what I am loving right now:
1) The book "Spending" by Mary Gordon. My third time reading it and it's still great.
2) The cat falling asleep every night on my feet as the temperature is steadily dropping each day.
3) The seemingly endless stream of hugs that come from my children every day.
4) The baby "Gingerbread Man" costume posted on the front page of Boston Globe Online today. My hat is off to that creative mom!
5) Lowe's Home Improvement store......I was there yesterday to buy spray paint and a hack saw for a costume I'm making and wandered around for an hour and a half looking at everything from insulation to industrial lighting fixtures and then drooled over the tool section for a good 15 minutes. I love the tool section! Sometimes I think I have more boy genes than girl genes....seriously ;)
Well, that was fun.......what are YOU loving right now??

Good morning! Apple-picking seems to be the activity of choice around our area so we jumped on the bandwagon and took a trip to an orchard to fill up on our share.
One pie has already been made and consumed but, two more crusts are waiting for their filling.
Don't worry, I know I have to peel them and cut them up first ;)
Halloween costumes are being contemplated and imagined as we speak and even the plants around here are starting to disguise themselves.......
This photo is a bit dark but I think you get the idea;)
The heat is not working at the studio at the moment and since it hit 35 degrees here this morning, I decided to postpone my second round of postcard printing until later in the week. I'll keep you posted.
What are you up to these days?
back soon.....

dwell: to linger over or emphasize in thought , speech or writing.
The three pieces I submitted for the drawing show at the South Shore Art Center were not accepted. There were over 500 submissions from all over the world and only 48 were chosen. I'm disappointed and hoped to be a part of this show but after a week of licking my wounds, I've chosen not to DWELL on it ;)
Time to look for another venue for this work.......
Movin' on.....
Hope you are enjoying your week and moving towards achieving your goals :)

Since the world is in such turmoil these days and people in general seem to be feeling pretty uneasy, I thought I'd give you a brief escape and a chance to look at something beautiful. I have some cool photos to show you of a recent treasure that was uncovered during building renovations at my husbands' family business.
These glass tiles were found behind a wall that was removed to create new office space.
They look as if they were laid right into the cement, mosaic-style and they reflect light all around them. (Even with a few layers of dust on them from construction) We think the building was constructed in the 1920's or 30's which would make sense because using glass tiles was popular at the time as a decorative element.
They run the length of the entire front wall and I read that glass tiles and embellishments were used at the front of buildings and near windows to reflect as much natural light into a room as possible. Sounds like a "green" idea before it's time!
I found a great article at Susan Jablon Mosaics that explains more about the history of glass tile. If you have a few minutes it has some interesting information. Enjoy!
I have my eye on cleaning out more closets this week to prepare for the studio move and my daughter has generously volunteered to help me paint. The dark brown paneling in my new space needs a definate face-lift. Wouldn't glass tiles be great..........? Ok, so white paint is much more likely in these belt-tightening times ;)
Enjoy your creating today......back soon.

Good Morning:) I hope your week is off to a good start. I had several hours at the studio yesterday and got a head-start on the next installment of postcards for a Fall giveaway! This batch is inspired by the post I wrote last week about "peep-toe" shoes and the tiny drawing/stitch piece I did. Although the postcards won't include stitching, the design I have for them is similar. I'll be sure to let you know when the giveaway will take place. Definatley in the month of October!
I had the opportunity to spend part of the weekend in Portsmouth, New Hampshire and visited this very cool place. I had heard of the gallery before through Susan's blog but was not sure exactly where is was until I happened to be strolling down the street in Portsmouth with my husband on Saturday and BAM it was right in front of us! Such a great space and so much inspiring work. Business card in pocket......check ;)
And because I hate to write a post without leaving you with some kind of visual stimulation......
"Tools of my trade" ........ (by the way, that's a cat's paw in the upper right. My pal Danny couldn't resist the chance for a close-up :)
Back soon!

Hey there, how are you today ? In the midst of sewing and work deliveries and house cleaning, etc. I managed to sneak over to an art exhibit today. It is a national show held each year at the Ames Mansion on the grounds of Borderland State Park. A beautiful, beautiful place with so much history.
The lady of the house, Blanche Ames was an artist and illustrator and her work hangs throughout the mansion. Her studio is still intact and the windows throughout the house are large and perfect for letting in tons of light. She was also a lover of orchids and there is a type of greenhouse room off the back of the house where she would grow her plants.
It's like stepping back in time to walk through and admire the carved wood staircase, wide plank wood floors and the large, wide, red velvet covered staircase that has a landing half-way to the second floor that is as big as my bedroom. Unfortunately no cameras are allowed inside the mansion so I am trying to give you an image with my words!
The show was well-done and included some beautiful pieces. Lovely field-trip :)
Enjoy your weekend. Back Monday :)
